Journal Ownership
The Journal on Baltic Security is maintained as a programme of the Baltic Defence College. The Baltic Defence College publishes the Journal on Baltic Security as a journal of research and commentary on security issues in order to facilitate academic discussion. The views presented in the articles do not represent any official views of the of the Baltic Defence College.
Editors-in-Chief
Editors-in-Chief are responsible for the management and publishing of the Journal on Baltic Security. Editors-in-Chief assign Managing Editors to manuscripts, confirm special editions, select peer reviewers, and exercise first ethical oversight of the publishing process.
Dr. Asta Maskaliūnaitė
Dr. Asta Maskaliūnaitė is the Director of the Department of Politics and Security Studies at the Baltic Defence College.
She holds PhD from Central European University in Political Science. Her research focuses on terrorism and political violence as well as aspects of security and defence policy with a particular interest in the Baltic region.
Her interest in military history led to an edited English translation of a trilogy on the Lithuanian Independence Wars 1918-1923 published by Vilnius University Press.
Ms. Eden Elizabeth Armstrong
Eden is the Publications Editor and faculty member in the Department of Political and Strategic Studies at the Baltic Defence College.
She has an MA in Political Analysis with a concentration on Russia and Eastern Europe from the School of Slavonic and East European Studies at University College London and an MSc in International Relations with a concentration on the Middle East and North Africa from the University of Edinburgh.
Eden's area of research focuses on the complexity and resilience of civil society, social movements, and community organisation in authoritarian, autocratic, or post-conflict contexts.
Managing Editors
Managing Editors are either an Editor-in-Chief or an Editorial Assistant assigned to a particular article. The Managing Editor is responsible for mediating the author’s interaction with the journal, reviewers, and technical staff. Managing Editors are the primary point of contact for all authors and reviewers.
For the 2026 editions, the Managing Editor is Ms. Eden Elizabeth Armstrong.
Technical Editor
Technical Editors are responsible for the formatting of the print file and the coding of the XML file.
For the 2026 editions, the Technical Editor is Ms. Jaana Reinek.
Jaana is the Academic Assistant in the Department of Political and Strategic Studies at the Baltic Defence College.
