Potential Competing or Conflicts of Interest
Competing Interest is when two or more priorities are in competition with one another. These have the potential to be entirely mitigated, and if not resolved, they can be declared for transparency.
Conflict of Interest is when two or more priorities are in direct opposition with one another. While these cannot be entirely mitigated, they can be declared.

Disclosing a Potential Competing or Conflict of Interest
The Journal on Baltic Security requires all potential competing interests and conflicts of interest to be disclosed immediately upon their discovery. Please contact Ms. Eden Elizabeth Armstrong at eden.armstrong@baltdefcol.org with a detailed explanation of the potential competing interest or conflict of interest.
- If an author knows of a potential competing or conflict of interest before submission, it must be declared at the time of submission. If it comes to light that the author knew and intentionally did not disclose, the manuscript - regardless of quality and calibre will be rejected or retracted. during first submission as either a footnote in the manuscript or a separate statement.
Reviewers are expected to notify the Managing Editor immediately if they think reviewing an article constitutes a potential competing or conflict of interest. If the potential competing or conflict of interest cannot be remedied, the reviewer will be replaced.
If an Editor suspects a competing or conflict of interest and it is not resolved after clarifications/investigations - the Editors-in-Chief retain the right to cancel the publication of the accepted submission, publish a "Note of Concern", or retract the article.
