Call for Papers
Journal on Baltic Security 2025
The Journal on Baltic Security announces a Call for Papers for the Fall 2025 Special Edition!
Alongside the Baltic Defence College, the Journal on Baltic Security focuses on security and defence matters in the Wider Baltic region. We aim to explore the current and future challenges within our dynamic strategic environment while proposing solutions for addressing the pressing challenges of today.
As the Baltic region faces evolving security challenges, military educational institutions must adapt to prepare leaders for a security environment increasingly influenced by advanced technologies. For this special edition, we aim to explore how PME can effectively develop the knowledge, skills, and abilities required for military leadership in this transformed operational landscape.
We welcome articles examining implementation strategies, pedagogical innovations, institutional adaptations, and emerging best practices in areas including:
- AI-enhanced decision-making and operational planning education
- Pedagogical frameworks for developing AI literacy among military leaders
- Case studies of successful AI implementation in Baltic and NATO PME institutions
- Ethical dimensions and governance frameworks for AI in military education
- Technical infrastructure requirements and implementation roadmaps
- Faculty development strategies for AI-enhanced teaching
- Lessons from Ukraine and other contemporary conflicts regarding AI competency
- Balancing traditional military education with emerging technological competencies
- Methodologies for measuring the effectiveness of AI integration in PME
- Regional cooperation in developing AI-ready military education across the Baltic states
- Institutional and cultural challenges to technological integration in military settings
- Resource optimisation through AI implementation in resource-constrained institutions
